The defense of the Tennessee State Lady Tigers forced Bryant into 25 turnovers and held them to just 29% shooting from the floor in a 53-43 win.
The teams combined to shoot 8-35 ( 4-19 for TSU and 4-16 for Bryant) in a first quarter than Tennessee State won 10-8. Offensively speaking, the second quarter was a better showing for the Tigers, as they shot 50% (6-12), while the Bulldogs shot near absolute Kelvin from the field at 7% ( 1-15) in scoring just 3 points, as Tennessee State took a 22-11 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter Bryant sliced a 13-point Tennessee State lead down to three on a pair of Kemari Reynolds free throws that brought the score to 28-25. The Bulldogs tied the game at 34 on Reynolds’ layup with 6:49 left in the game. TSU went on an immediate 9-0 run to take a 43-34 lead with 3:58 to go in the contest. Tennessee State outscored Bryant, 10-9 over the remaining portion of the game to a secure a 53-43 win.
Zyion Shannon and Caitlin Anderson were the only Tigers in double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Kemari Reynolds and Martina Boba led the way for Bryant with 10 points each. Nia Scott was, at 4-6 FG, the only Bulldog who could shot 50% or better from the floor.
Up next for the Lady Tigers is a trip to Cincinnati to take on the University of Cincinnati on December 1.
